Arsenal FC has been actively searching for a top-tier winger to strengthen the left flank of their squad. Andrea Berta, the club’s new sporting director, is adopting an ambitious approach in preparing for the summer transfer window. Among the Gunners’ targets is Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting, for whom the club is willing to bid €75 million.

Another player under the radar of the English giant is Rafael Leao, a standout performer for AC Milan in recent years. The Portuguese winger’s contract includes a release clause amounting to €175 million, a figure that could deter many suitors. While Arsenal does not intend to trigger this clause, the club is prepared to enter serious negotiations with the Serie A side.

The Gunners are aiming to propose an offer that aligns closely with Milan’s valuation, potentially facilitated by the sale of one of their current first-team players. However, securing Leao’s move to the Emirates Stadium is expected to be a challenging mission. Chelsea FC has also expressed keen interest in the Portuguese forward as part of their plans to revamp their attack. Additionally, FC Barcelona has shown interest in Leao, although the financial hurdles faced by the Catalan club could pose difficulties in finalising such an expensive transfer.

The Portuguese player has been part of AC Milan since 2019, following his transfer from Lille. This season, he has made 49 appearances across all competitions, contributing 12 goals and 13 assists. Leao’s contract at San Siro is valid until June 30, 2028.
