Alphonso Davies Was Courted by Al-Ahli
Alphonso Davies currently has a contract with Bayern Munich that is valid until the end of June next year. As of now, it remains uncertain where the Canadian defender will continue his career. Negotiations between the player and the club are ongoing and seem to be heading in a positive direction. If all goes well, the left-back may extend his stay with the Bundesliga giants.
This development is particularly surprising considering that Real Madrid was recently favored to sign Davies. Other interested teams included Manchester United and FC Barcelona. According to Florian Plettenberg, Al-Ahli from Saudi Arabia also entered the fray this summer in the chase for the talented player.
Scheikhs reportedly tried to lure Davies during discussions, but the transfer ultimately did not materialize. The journalist notes that Bayern Munich is still working hard to retain the player, whom they consider a key asset.
Currently, Bayern is unable to utilize Alphonso Davies’ services until the end of the year. Following the last game against Heidenheim, the Canadian reported health issues. This means he will miss matches against teams like Shakhtar, Mainz, and Leipzig.
As of now, Davies has 20 appearances, with three assists to his name. He has been part of the Bavarian squad since the winter of 2019 after transferring from Vancouver Whitecaps for 14 million euros.
