Rodrygo ed Real Madrid in the summer of 2019 from the Brazilian club Santos. The Spanish giants are currently undergoing a significant squad overhaul, with recent arrivals and departures marking just the start of these changes. Questions are increasingly arising about Rodrygo’s future in the team.

The Brazilian winger is concerned about his role following the appointment of Xabi Alonso, who may implement a different playing system. In such a scenario, the 24-year-old winger’s importance to the team could diminish, leading to uncertainties regarding his place in the lineup. Despite growing interest from Arsenal, Rodrygo has no plans to leave the Santiago Bernabeu. He has made it clear that he is determined to stay and compete for a spot under the guidance of the new manager.

With Xabi Alonso officially taking the reins at Real Madrid, Rodrygo has already had his first meeting with the new coach after a short off-season break. According to reports from “Marca,” the discussion was positive, and the Brazilian seems motivated and ready to compete once more.

Alonso will make his managerial debut for Los Blancos on Wednesday, June 18, against Al-Hilal. This match is part of the group stage of the FIFA Club World Cup, where Real Madrid has been drawn into Group H alongside Pachuca and Red Bull Salzburg.

Rodrygo enjoyed a successful 2024/25 season. Across 51 matches, he managed to score 14 goals and provide 10 assists. His contract with Real Madrid remains valid until June 2028.
